pre-pregnancy & antenatal consultations
Some women are unsure about falling pregnant or need advice on optimising their health before trying. This might be because of the stress of a previous pregnancy that didn’t go to plan or medical conditions that complicate their health.
A pre-pregnancy consultation can help you prepare psychologically and medically for having a baby. If pregnancy is likely to be medically complicated, you can receive advice about what risks there might be falling pregnant and put in place plans to address those. Antenatal care can be done in collaboration with a public hospital team if you seek consistency of provider with a specialist for appointments.
If you need additional tests or appointments with other specialists, then this can be arranged as part of the pre-pregnancy consultation. If you need surgery before you fall pregnant, Dr Tucker will refer you either directly to the public hospital or to a private gynaecologist of your choice. If you know that you need surgery and wish to have this done privately, it would be preferable to be referred directly to a gynaecologist with admitting rights to the local private hospital.
The consultation fee is $150 per first/long appointment, $75 for a 25 minute appointment. Medicare rebate is available: $76.80 for the first appointment and $38.60 for any subsequent appointments. Medicare rebates require a GP referral and this can be sent to:
