Access the birth debrief program

Two steps are required for the joint psychology/obstetrician program are as follows.
If you only wish a birth debrief consultation without the support of the psychology program, please complete step 1 only.

2. GP referral to Melissa Freestun
You will also need a GP referral to Melissa Freestun. For Medicare rebates, your GP will prepare a Mental Health Treatment Plan, which provides access to 10 sessions per year. Medicare has made an additional ten sessions available for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, this is available until December 2022 and you can carry over unused additional sessions without a new MHTP review or referral.

After receiving your referral, Danny will provide you with a release of information form. Your signed consent is needed to access your birth records from the hospital that the birth took place.

Consultations take place in rooms at Hyde Park or Cranbrook. Telehealth consultations are also an option if travel is difficult or you do not live in Townsville.
